Low Sok Hui // Hwa Chong Instituition // Mixed Media // 300cm by 150cm

Ichigo Ichie, a term derived from Zen Buddhism and Japanese tea, captures the poetic elegance of transience. It emphasises the uniqueness of the encounters I have every day and further reminds me of the need to grasp at every opportunity and make the best of it. Each person I meet on my life journey has impacted me in their own ways; each meeting with any person is a one-off encounter never to be repeated. While I may use a variety of materials here, they are linked by a similar thematic exploration – the inimitable encounter. Look beyond the nondescript, slow down to appreciate the moment, seize the possibilities and unravel the wonder within.
