You don’t get anything clean without getting something else dirty.
This was the quote Shen Jiaqi used as her muse for this series of work. In The color of apathy 忘物的颜色, she surfaces the weight of emotional weariness and mental toll experienced by teachers throughout the years of selfless contributions. Contrasting the visuals of bright colours with grimy janitorial corners, she brings out the displacement between ideals and reality. The mind often chooses to overlook the desolate, favouring the visually poignant for assistance and reward.
