aedge 2018: Of Thoughts and Processes
First held in 2012, aedge is an exhibition that gave a voice to our art educators. Short for art educators’ developmental and generative explorations, the inaugural show highlighted the creative potential of the participants as Teacher-artists. aedge is now an annual event that offers an interlude for art educators to reflect and focus on their own practices.

Of Thoughts and Processes
is the 7th edition of aedge and recalls the intention of the inaugural exhibition – to embrace the idea of “critical inquiry” in art making. Critical inquiry requires a structured thought process for reflection, contemplation, and observation. It demands a concerted effort over an extended period to reflect on an idea and considers the ability to resolve challenges by deriving a solution in a creative and exploratory manner.

aedge 2018 requires a shift in mindset; rather than working towards an outcome, curators together with the participants are to delve deeper into their art-making processes to gain insights into their strategies and approaches. It requires an added dimension of introspection that more often, than not results in unexpected outcomes and even surprises. In presenting these works, Of Thoughts and Processes offer a meditative way of experiencing art through the thoughts and processes of the artists themselves.
