“The fascinating thing about both HCI’s high school and college fine art studios is that their layouts are exact reflections of each other.”
Transiting from Junior College to High School in Hwa Chong Institution, the College studio became increasingly unfamiliar to Ong Xi Wei Grace over the course of 2018. Simultaneously, as she began spending more time in the High School studio, her spatial awareness and familiarity of the space grew. |reflect visualises the gradual change of her personal journey and also provides a resolution to her displaced connection to these spaces.
|reflect consists of two videos that are played simultaneously — where one full image appears, the other fades — echoing the course of time.
