Goh Silk’s inspiration for this piece began when she found old photos of her Dad, a taboo topic in her household. At that time, Goh was working on the topic of avoidance and isolation. Struck with a need that she had avoided for over seven years, she attempted to find ways to de-isolate this topic and showcase it to others.
The low resolutions of the film photos Goh found presented an obstacle to how she originally wanted to present the pictures. Therefore, she began to seek out other art forms to represent and strengthen her idea, using audio and video recordings to convey her final work.
