Possible lesson ideas for making art

In this lesson idea, students could be asked to consider the invisible systems in which they live in and think of an interventionist gesture that serves to question the workings of the system.

 

A possible elegant art task could be:

To examine a condition within a system and think of modes of disrupting its usual functioning to highlight the issues you want to spotlight. Examples include systemic practices of art institutions, the art market, the educational system or the economic system.

 

Working with medium constraints of either:

Use of found objects OR

Dematerialised gestures
